Health Education England (Yorkshire & Humber)

Dave Algeo has delivered training in Resilience and Well-being to Paediatric trainees in the School of Paediatrics (Health Education England Yorkshire and Humber) since 2017. Dave was approached and commissioned to deliver this training following positive feedback of similar training delivered at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. The training was organised to address stress and burnout amongst doctors in training and its links to patient outcomes. Some of the sessions have been attended by trainers as well. Dave has brought his professional experience and expertise in designing, delivering and developing the course. He has worked closely with me as training programme director and I have been impressed by his foresight, flexibility and attention to detail. He is an engaging trainer who brings authenticity and enjoyment to the sessions. The Surviving and Thriving programme is in its 4th year and has evaluated extremely well. During this time, around 200 doctors have benefited from the course. The course provides a range of insight, coping tools and strategies to support professionals in their day to day work, life and study, including a mindfulness session delivered by Rachael Garside of Tall Spaghetti. Dave has used feedback to constantly develop and enhance the course to meet the needs of the trainees. The sessions have been interactive and some aspects are clinically focussed to ensure relevance to the workplace. I would have no hesitation in recommending Dave with a view to incorporating resilience and wellbeing related learning into your development programmes.
